We built BafGo because we saw a gap. A big one.
The hiring software industry is obsessed with enterprise. Every ATS, every video interview platform, every recruiting tool is built for companies that have dedicated HR departments, six-figure budgets, and teams of people to manage the process. If you are a small or midsized business, you are an afterthought.
We think that is backwards. The businesses that need good hiring tools the most are the ones that can least afford the enterprise versions. A restaurant owner trying to hire a line cook before Saturday dinner rush should not need to navigate a platform designed for a Fortune 500 recruiting team. A daycare director screening applicants after hours should not have to guess which tool is worth the money. A contractor vetting a project manager should not have to choose between a $500 per month platform and a sticky note.
So we built something else. Something built for the businesses that the big ATS vendors forgot.
The Gap We Saw
Look at the major players. HireVue. Spark Hire. Willo. They are good products for the right customer. But that customer is a company with hundreds or thousands of employees, a dedicated recruiting team, and a budget that starts at five figures. If you are a team of ten, these tools are overkill. And overpriced.
The smaller businesses we talked to were making do with workarounds. Some used free Zoom calls and tried to remember what each candidate said. Others used spreadsheets. Many just hired based on a gut feeling because they did not have the time or tools to do anything more structured.
That is the gap we are here to fill. Not with a stripped down enterprise product, but with something built from the ground up for the businesses that need simple, affordable, and effective hiring tools.
Where We Are Today
Here is the honest part. We have no customers yet. We are not pretending otherwise. There are no fake testimonials, no inflated numbers, no "trusted by" logo wall with companies that never signed up. That is not how we want to build this.
What we have is a working product that solves a real problem. You can create an interview set, share a link, and get recorded video responses from candidates. It is simple, it works, and it is free to start.
We are early. We are eager. And we are building this in the open because we think the best software is built alongside the people who use it. If you give BafGo a try, we will listen to what you think and make it better. That is the honest truth.
Why Async?
The async format is the simplest idea that works. Candidates record answers on their own time. Hiring managers review them on theirs. No scheduling, no travel, no candidates dropping off because a calendar link expired.
Every candidate answers the same questions. You compare responses side by side instead of relying on memory of a phone call from three days ago. The evaluation is fair, structured, and consistent.
For a small or midsized business, that is transformative. You get better hiring decisions without needing an HR department or a big budget. You just need a tool that was built for you.
Building in the Open
I am a solo founder. There is no VC money, no team of engineers, no marketing department. Just me, a laptop, and a belief that useful tools matter more than fast growth.
This blog is the record of that process. I will write about what works, what does not, and what I am learning along the way. Some posts will be about hiring strategy. Some will cover the technical side of building a secure, reliable platform. Some will just be about the reality of building a business in the middle of Missouri without a safety net.
If that sounds interesting, I hope you will follow along. Better yet, try the product and tell me what you think. That is how this gets better.
Give BafGo a try
Free to start. No credit card. No onboarding call. Just a tool built for businesses like yours.
Create your first interview set →What Is Next
The product is live. The roadmap is full. There are reviewer flows to improve, candidate experiences to polish, and integrations to build for the businesses that need them.
But the core is there. A business owner can create an interview set, share a link, and get recorded responses from candidates in minutes, not days. And we will keep making it better based on what real users tell us.
That is day one. Let us see where day 365 takes us.
